Johnson, Georgia Douglas. Bronze. A Book of Verse. With an Introduction by W E. B. Du Bois. Small, square 8vo; printed paper label up spine, trifle darkened. Boston: Brimmer, 1922 E500-750 First Edition of the poet's third book. In the last section of the book, " Appreciations," the sixth poem is dedicated to W E. B. Du Bois. Despite favorable reception by the press, as well as close ties to such luminaries as William Stanley Braithwaite and Langston Hughes, none of her books were printed in great quantity. It was her friendship with Braithwaite and his association with the Brimmer Press in Boston that got the present book published. Probably no more than 750 copies were bound. French Fabre and Singh, page 117; Porter, North American Negro Poets, page 53 See Illustration
