Joseph Heintz Head of a Young Woman. P,ed, black and white chalks oncream laid paper. 160 x 117mm; 6.375 x 4.625 inches. Double-headed eagle in a circle watermark. With studies of a head in profile and hands in red chalk, verso. The Italian watermark dates from around the late 1580s/early 1590s, when Heintz lived in Rome and, in the latter part of his stay, worked as a copyist for Emperor Rudolph II
