This translation of Johlson's textbook on the religious instruction of Jewish children was issued by Leeser shortly after being named to the pulpit of Philadelphia's congregation Mikveh Israel. Unable to find a publisher in Philadelphia interested in the project, Leeser arranged for his translation to be printed himself. Rosenbach 321.
