  • Notes: First edition of a work on the law regarding Jewish land ownership prior to the failed Jewish Naturalization Act (or Jew Bill) of 1753, reviewing the history of Jewish civil rights in England from the Middle Ages onward. Pages 47-48 discuss the 1739 Act permitting the naturalization of Jews in the American colonies after 7 years' residence. Webb (1702-70) was a barrister and antiquary who represented London Jewish congregations. Roth, Magna Bibliotheca Anglo-Judaica, pages 42 and 224.
