  • Notes: AMQS, to music critic Julien Torchet, three bars from the third act of his  Le Cid, notated on a hand-drawn stave, with holograph tempo directive and lyrics ("O Souverain, ô Juge, ô Père"). 1 page, 12mo. Np, 30 November 1885.

    Three ALsS: To "Madam," complaining of having to remain at home * To an unnamed recipient, mentioning rehearsals for Hérodiade at the Théâtre-Italien and assuring that two seats would be reserved for the performance of Manon around the 19th * To mezzo-soprano Blanche Marchesi, remarking that "while traveling, I was unaware of the program for the evening of December 12th. This program . . . I have known it since last night." Together 6 pages, 8vo, first on mourning stationery. Paris, 18 January 1876; 10 January 1884; 10 March 1900.

    Two ANsS: To son of painter Paul-Narcisse Salières: "I was hoping to meet Mr. Chaliapine [Feodor Chaliapin] and take the opportunity to play him some 'Djinns' [Louis Vierne's 'Les djinns' (1914)?]; I couldn't, because our great artist was ill and I was away in Italy" * To "Dear Colleague," reminding him not to forget his manuscript of which there is only one copy. Together 2 pages, 3¼x9½ inches or oblong 12mo; the first torn into two pieces affecting text (without loss). Monte Carlo, 27 February 1912; Paris, nd.
