4 items: Printed poem Signed, her "America the Beautiful" * Three Typed Letters Signed.

The poem, printed on first page of a folded sheet, on the other three pages of which is printed an essay by Bates concerning the poem. Signed at lower edge of first page. 4 pages, 6½x5¼ inches; faint marginal discoloration from prior matting. The letters, to Mildred C. Smith ("My dear Mildred"), advising her about details of her graduate study, suggesting that she apply for a scholarship immediately, inviting her for tea during Wellesley freshman week, encouraging her to study German, preparing her to work as a tutor, recommending that she study Shakespeare with Professor [George Lyman] Kittredge, and hoping to secure a fellowship for her. Two with holograph postscripts numbering 7 lines, giving an update about Miss Tuell or remarking that the fellowship is no longer available. Together 6 pages. Each 8vo, "Wellesley College" stationery, written on rectos of separate sheets.

Pendleton announcing her appointment as Graduate Assistant in English Literature. Each 1 page, 4to or 8vo. Wellesley, 14 June; 2 July 1915.
