CAMPAIGN SPEECH KENNEDY, JOHN F. Reading copy of a speech delivered in St. Louis on October 2, 1960 with extensive holograph annotations, unsigned. In all, 14 double-spaced pages, with notes in the Presidential candidate's hand throughout. The speech begins, "Massachusetts and Missouri are closely linked in the history of this republic. Both have been cradles of American freedom." Bound in a 4-ring loose leaf folder, 11 1/2x14 inches, gilt-lettered cover: "John F. Kennedy / October 2, 1960 / St. Louis, Missouri." Np, [circa 2 October 1960]

  • Notes: At the top of the first page he has written several names, and crossed out 2 lines, and verso has lengthy notes mentioning Bobby and Curran; on pages 2, 3, 5, 11, and 12 he has underlined and/or added some words; and on page 14, he has changed the final typed words from "guide this nation through eternity" to "guide this nation through dark + stormy times." On the verso of terminal page is a holograph note: "I think Hoffa has a deal with the Attorney Genl's office for support in this campaign."
