KENNETH DENTON SHOESMITH (1890-1939) CUNARD LINE

KENNETH DENTON SHOESMITH (1890-1939) CUNARD LINE.
Approximately 29x19 inches.
Condition A: image has been cut out of the larger poster, "Mauretania" at Cherbourg. Framed.
A dramatic, nighttime scene of what is likely the Aquitania pulling out of Southhampton harbor on one of her trans-Atlantic voyages to New York. Of Cunard's fleet, only three ships had four funnels; the Aquitania and the sister ships the Lusitania and the Mauretania. Actual photographs of this ship's array of lifeboats indicate that the vessel here is the Aquitania, as the majority of ship's portraits, such as this one, prided themselves on their accuracy.
