CHILL SOME BUBBLY KENT, ROCKWELL. Art Deco chrome wine bottle stand. Measures 32 1/2 high; bucket measures 8 1/2 diameter at opening. Front of bucket features embossed Bacchus and goat design, circular side handles, and a 6-ridged band along the top, with front and rear depressions creating an artistic circumference; some scratching and mild oxidation to surface and interior. rare kent collectible. During the Depression era, many families entertained at home and could not afford silver. Chrome buffet and bar accessories became highly desirable and Chase was the most famous manufacturer during the 1920s and 30s. At the onset of World War II, chrome was needed for wartime projects and aluminum became the new, cheaper metal for decorative items. Rockwell Kent was commissioned by Chase in the 1930s to create chrome designs for them; he created three, each featuring the Bacchus figure. All are quite rare and highly collectible.
