Memphis: Allied Printing, [1968] E600/800 CARRIED THE DAY DR. KING WAS ASSASSINATED. King went to Memphis to aid striking sanitation workers. This placard, with another, "I AM A MAN," were carried that day. In the evening as he stood on the balcony of his motel room, Dr. King was shot and killed by James Earl Ray who, to his dying day, maintained that while involved, he was not the gunman.
