(KING Jr., MARTIN LUTHER.) Wanted by the FBI. Civil Rights - Conspiracy. Eric Starvo Galt.
Original wanted poster for James Earl Ray, first issued 17 April 1968, 16x10 3/4 inches; stamped on the verso "Postmaster, East Eddington, Maine." Washington, 1968
- Notes: Following the assassination of Dr. King, the pressure on U. S. law enforcement agencies was tremendous. On the basis of a single fingerprint, the FBI at first came up with the name of a four-time loser named Eric Starvo Galt. It was days before Galt was identified as Ray. Until his death, he claimed that he was not the shooter and that he could name names. The King family believed him and tried to get the government to make a deal, but Ray died with whatever secrets he might have known.
