A small, printed note laid in reads, "This Book came from the Library of Dr. George D. Snell and his wife Rhoda Carson Snell. Dr. Snell was a Nobel Laureate whose work paved the way for modern organ transplants. In addition to his pioneering research at The Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, Maine, he was increasingly concerned with the philosophy & ethics of Science shaping modern society. With this he worked until his death at 92. Dr. Snell shared with his wife a love of gardening, world travel, and literature. This book reflects one of the many facets of the world-respected ‘Father of Immunogenetics.'"
