LA JOELA. 1910.
47x34 inches. Hollerbaum & Schmidt, Berlin.
Condition B+: minor repaired tears in margins; creases in image; horizontal fold.
Here Klinger applies his talent of representing any subject with simple lines and flat colors to this Flamenco dancer. The uncomplicated color scheme, the movement and skillfulness of the drawing and simple ornamentation (in the form of her tassles) combine to make a fluid, gem of a poster. Very rare.
ref: Julius Klinger, Berlin Kunstbibliotek, 1978. p.71. Masters of German Poster Art, by Hellmut Rademacher, October House, New York, 1966, p. 54.
