Laurel & Hardy. "Here's Looking at You."
Color lithograph, 21x27 inches oblong. Artist's proof, signed by Hirschfeld and annotated "ap 7/20" in pencil, lower border.
"Theres a kind of musical interruption occuring here. Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy perform comedy together with the smoothness of a couple of chamber musicians. The two adults who never grew up.... "Babe" Hardy was just a contract player with Mack Sennett. Then one day the two paired up in the Sennett camp and it was a perfect match from the start. I saw them visually as the number "10." Laurel lent himself to the figuire "1" and Hardy rotund as the numeral "0." HOL/250
