LEONARD CUSDEN [ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF ACCIDENTS]. Group of 5 posters. Circa 1947.
Sizes vary, approximately 30x20 inches. Loxley Brothers Limited, London.
Condition varies, generally A: minor abrasions in image; minor creases in margins.
In 1947, a large series of posters was commissioned and produced by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents and printed by Loxley Brothers, in Sheffield. The artists involved in the project included Manfred Reiss, Thomas Eckersley, Abram Games, Desmond Moore, and the lesser known Cusden. Here, in a clean, strong and sober style, Cusden uses simple yet bold graphic images to convey an unmistakable message-made especially efficient by his use of close-up views of objects. IPA 194 8/49 no. 94, p. 44.
