  • Notes: Edgar Johnson Goodspeed was the pastor at Chicago''s Second Baptist Church. He was shocked to learn that Lincoln had even attended a play: "The nation is humiliated . . . by the murder of its President in a theatre by an actor! . . . Go not to any place where you would not wish to be found by death." He nonetheless praises the late president as a great man. No prior sale records found, and WorldCat lists only 6 copies. Chicago Ante-Fire Imprints 941; Monaghan 525; Sabin 27932.
