A Hungarian movie poster featuring a submarine surfacing from the depths of the sea, between the arms of a large, red "U." U-boats played a crucial role in World War I: the Germans used them effectively to wrest control of the seas from the British Navy. A German poster by Hans Rudi Erdt features a strikingly similar motif (see IWM p. 24) and is conceivably advertising the same film.
