- Notes: Local 274 of the American Federation of Musicians was the last black local to be integrated into the white main local. These issues not only contain the minutes and the rest of the "nuts and bolts" of the Union's doings, but include contemporary articles on John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, and many other nationally and internationally known black musicians. The directory for 1955 includes John Coltrane. A potential main source for a jazz researcher. should be seen.
