LONG, HUEY PIERCE. Every Man a King. Plates. 8vo, publisher's cloth, minor wear; fragments of dust jacket laid in; signed and inscribed by Long on front free endpaper. New Orleans, [1933]

  • Notes: The inscription reads in full "To my dear old friend R.O. Jackson, with my love and appreciation for a real favor which can never be repaid by me. Sincerely, Huey P. Long." The favor is described on pages 12 and 13 of the book. In 1912, Long had arrived destitute in Norman, Oklahoma, hoping to enroll in law school. Jackson, a local merchant, met Long in the train station and gave him $5.00 and credit at the local bookstore. This enabled Long to forge ahead with his education.
