(LORD NELSON.) The Noble Admiral Lord Nelson Fell in the Arms of Victory . . .

(LORD NELSON.) The Noble Admiral Lord Nelson Fell in the Arms of Victory . . . Hand-colored patriotic aquatint, 255x360 mm sheet size with margins trimmed close; several small nicks at edges, 2 very small repairable holes along right edge, some soiling. London: P. Gally, 1805

  • Notes: An interesting patriotic piece with the facial portrait of Nelson done in a fine style but with his body in something close to caricature. To the right the pride of the Spanish fleet, "Trinidada," is sinking - she actually sank in the gale following the battle - but the patriotic spirit need not be restrained by factual details.
