Both black chalk with white heightening on green paper. One 800x2640 mm; 31 1/2x104 inches, initialed LB; the other 800x2940 mm; 31 1/2x116 inches, signed Louis Braun, München, in chalk.

Fought in northeast France and a strategic victory for the Prussian army, this was one of the key battles of the Franco-Prussian War and led to the seige of Metz and ultimately the surrender of the French army.
