LOUISE DAHL-WOLFE HARPER'S BAZAAR. 1957.

39 1/2x30 inches.
Condition A: creasing at edges; repaired tear in image.
Louise Dahl-Wolfe began her career in photography in 1923. In 1926, she joined the staff of Harper's Bazaar, working closely with art director Alexey Brodovitch. Her style, called "environmental" photography, which meant shooting on location with natural light and in color, had an enormous impact on fashion photography in general and specifically on photographers such as Horst P. Horst, Richard Avedon, and Irving Penn. This poster, which is an enlargement of the cover of the August 1957 edition of the magazine, shows a young woman, elegant and natural looking, typifying the "HB Look".
