Images of Isleta, Acoma, Santa Clara, Taos, Laguna, Zuni, Pu-Yé, and San Felipe pueblos as well as the Pa-tol stick game and ritual dances. Cyanotypes sized 4 3/8x6 7/8 inches (11.1x17.5 cm.), and the reverse, with a combination of Lummis's credit, date, inventory number, or a caption, in the negative. • Notes: A noted journalist and American Indian rights activist, Charles Lummis spent much of his time photographing and learning about the American Indians of the Southwest. While he was a prolific photographer of the Southwest, the images in "Picturesque New Mexico" are distinctive in that they are predominantly photographs of women and children working in and around their pueblos.
