first edition. signed by famed paleontologists jack horner, robert bakker and malcolm mckenna on the front free endpaper. The signatures were obtained at a 1995 Explorer's Club dinner in their honor. Lyell (1797-1875) is credited with firmly establishing geology as a science and his Travels is considered "a work unusual among descriptions of America by British travelers in its fairness and insight'--DSB.
