M. HOYLE THEY CRUCIFY
Perhaps the most graphically disturbing American image to be produced during the First World War. According to the text on the poster, it "portrays an actual incident of the war... perpetrated [by the Germans] in Belgium." Issued only in San Francisco, this rare image's chilling depiction of unspeakable atrocities ranks it as the "high water mark of anti-German propaganda." (Meehan 22). Not in Rawls.
