DMacA," replying to a question posed by a woman in Illinois, written diagonally in the lower margin of her letter to him. In her typed letter she states, "One or more . . . ex-service men in this area who served under you in Japan have been circulating rumors . . . to the effect that you own a palace in Japan, . . . and while your boys were tired and battle-weary, you forced them to build a road to said palace. Your answer will . . . settle an argument. . . ." 1 page, square 8vo; horizontal fold. With the original envelope used by MacArthur. [New York, March 1952]
