The first book is Mach's most famous work, 'in which he presents his criticism of the epistemological and methodological basis of scientific inquiry . . . his analysis of the conceptual basis of Newtonian physics . . . influenced the development of Einstein's gravitational theory" (Bibliotheca Mechanica).
