"The plan of a road to Quebec is about assuming the form of determined prosecution--the rout has been explored, & a very favorable report made. . . ."
Moses Greenleaf, Jr. (1777-1834) was a Maine pioneer and mapmaker having created the first map of the state of Maine in 1820. In 1902, historian Samuel Lane Boardman wrote: "We but do justice to a remarkable man, now almost forgotten, by saying that Mr. Greenleaf through his published writings and his accurate and beautiful maps did more than any other man to make known . . . the value and importance of Maine while it was simply a district under the government of Massachusetts."
