(MALCOLM X.) Group of 11 news photographs relating to the life and assassination of Malcolm X. 11 photographs, each 8 x 10 inches, with inked United Press International stamps on verso, some with additional stamps or caption labels affixed; minimal wear. Various places, 1963-1965

  • Notes: One photograph shows Malcolm X from behind as he addressed a crowd in Harlem, 29 June 1963. Another shows his brother Philbert X denouncing him at a Nation of Islam press conference, 26 March 1964. The other 9 photographs are from the immediate aftermath of the assassination, February 1965. 4 of them show the arrest of suspects Thomas Hagen and Norman Butler, another shows widow Betty Shabazz after identifying his body, one shows the tight security at the funeral, and 3 show the aftermath of rioting in Harlem.
