Hugué (1872-1945), also known as Manolo, was a Catalan Spanish sculptor who was born in Barcelona. He was a close friend of Picasso during the late 1890s/early 1900s, moving to Paris prior to Picasso in 1900 and then introducing Picasso to the artistic circles of Paris and luminaries such as Guillome Apollinaire and Max Jacob. Manolo was represented by Daniel-Hnery Kahnweiler, Picasso's eminent Parisian art dealer, until the early 1930s. Ex-collection Lucien Goldschmidt, New York; thence by descent.
