Witnesses that slave owner Thomas R. Brown of Kent County, Maryland received one hundred dollars for giving his slave, Mark Russell, into enlistment in the Union Army. States: "A valid deed of manumission and release from Service Baltimore, Maryland 1865 E750/1,000 Russell enlisted 16 January 1864; served with 7th Regiment, Company I, USCT.
