(KING DAVID.) Vellum leaf from a Latin monastic psalter with illuminated initial B extending into border in left and lower margins incorporating roundel portraits of SS. Mark, Benedict, and Lawrence, 2 roundel portraits of unidentified female saints in right margin, text of Psalms 1:1-2:4 written in gothic script in brownish-black and red ink, 15 lines, recto and verso, with verse initials alternately in red and blue with contrasting penwork decoration. Leaf approximately 579x430 mm, initial 100x154 mm; some text and bottom of roundels rubbed, paper tape remnants along edges and in corners on the other side. Northern Italy (Ferrara?), 15th century
