MARC RIBOUD (1923-2016)
Telephones, Anshan, China. 1957; printed 1990s.
Silver print, the image measuring 8x11 7/8 inches (20.3x30.2 cm.), the sheet 11 1/8x14½ inches (28.3x36.8 cm.), with Riboud's signature, title, and negative date in pencil on recto, and his signature, title, negative date, and negative number in pencil, and his credit stamp (twice), and a notation in French, also in pencil, in an unknown hand, on verso.

The notation reads: "Steelworks of Anshan [Manchuria] before the arrival of the switchboard."

  • Condition: Marc Riboud's "Telephones, Anshan, China" (1957; printed 1990s) is in very good condition. The surface of the print is overall clean, neat, and bright, with neat contrasty tones.

Close inspection in strong raking light evidences just a couple minor imperfections, including a very soft pimple in the upper left quadrant as well as a very fine and discrete handling crease in the lower right edge. These are not at all immediately apparent, and do not detract from the overall presentation.

The margins are clean, but show a couple small handling marks. Print verso is also clean.

With Riboud's signature, title, and negative date in pencil on recto, and his signature, title, negative date, and negative number in pencil, and his credit stamp (twice), and a notation in French, also in pencil, in an unknown hand, on verso. The notation reads: "Steelworks of Anshan [Manchuria] before the arrival of the switchboard."
