  • Condition: Riboud's iconic image The painter of the Eiffel Tower, Paris, 1953; printed 1980s is overall in very good condition. The print is lustrous and bright, with a beautiful range of tonal values.

Under close examination in strong raking light, the print evidences a few slight superficial inconsistencies, including two tiny specs of professional retouching in the gray sky, and scattered short and soft handling marks around the image area, and more specifically on the extreme far right and lower edges.

While noticeable in strong raking light, these slight inconsistencies remain extremely discreet, being obscured by the graphic qualities of the print, and are not apparent under typical viewing conditions.

The margins are bright and clean, as well as the verso, with Riboud's signature in pencil on recto, and his signature and title in pencil, and his credit stamp, on verso.
