i) Hookah Bar. Signed lower left. 10 1/2 x 8 in. (26.5 x 20.2 cm.).

ii) An Antique Bar. With heightening in gouache. Signed lower right, and titled and inscribed on the lower sheet edge. 10 1/2 x 8 1/2 in. (26.5 x 21.5 cm.).

iii) Van Cortlandt Mansion. Signed lower right. Titled in pencil and with the estate stamp verso. 11 x 8 1/2 in. (27.8 x 21.5 cm.).

    Primarily known as a printmaker and gallerist, Margaret Lowengrund also served as an illustrator for The London Daily Express during the 1920s. When she returned to the United States, she took up the illustrated column "Sketches About Town" for The New York Evening Post. Lowengrund has recently been the subject of a groundbreaking exhibition "A Model Workshop" at the Print Center New York, September 21 - December 23, 2023, curated by Christina Weyl and Lauren Rosenblum. Weyl and Rosenblum's research has brought to light Lowengrund's life and achievements, as well as her far-reaching legacy.
