Born in Amsterdam, Marijke Koger was a member of The Fool, a Dutch design collective aesthetically linked to the psychedelic style of art in British popular music in the late 1960s. Notably, they worked closely with The Beatles, painting George Harrison's Mini car, John Lennon's piano, and a three-story-high psychedelic mural on the outside of the Apple Boutique on Baker Street. The Fool designed the clothes worn in the 1967 television broadcast of "All You Need Is Love," the "I Am the Walrus" segment of the 1967 Magical Mystery Tour television film, decorated John Lennon's piano and one of his Gibson acoustic guitars, and the set design for Joe Massot's 1968 movie Wonderwall.

After moving to Los Angeles, the Fool created the largest mural in the world at the time (1968) on the exterior of the Aquarius Theatre for a production of the Broadway musical Hair, by invitation of producer Michael Butler. Simon and Marijke went on to paint other theatres where "Hair" was playing, in San Francisco, Seattle, and Chicago. Thereafter, The Fool split up. Simon, Barry and Josje eventually went back to Amsterdam while Marijke remained in Los Angeles to continue her career as a visual artist.

Kroger's artwork was featured in the book "Electrical Banana, Masters of Psychedelic Art", followed by a book signing party at the Museum of Modern Art in Los Angeles. During 2012, Sonos Studio in Hollywood hosted a month-long solo retrospective featuring past and present works. Art and fashion samples are now in the permanent collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London, the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the Southwest Museum in Los Angeles.
