  • Notes: William Everhart (1785-1868) of Pennsylvania was the sole surviving passenger of the Albion, a packet ship which wrecked off the Ireland coast in April 1822. This letter describes his miraculous rescue and the abject poverty in Ireland among his rescuers. Everhart later served in the United States Congress.
