MARTIN, DICK. Alice and the Queen on the Chessboard. Pen, ink and watercolor on card, 340x230 mm. Signed and dated by the artist in the lower left corner. Np, 1982
- Notes: This original illustration depict Alice on the chessboard being admonished by the Chess Queen, "Look Up, Speak Nicely, and don't Twiddle your Fingers all the Time." Alice was one of Martin's favorite subjects, but as far as we know he only produced two pictures with her as the subject. It's likely that this was done as a personal gift for Irene Fisher.
