Mashallah ibn Athari was an 8th century Persian Jewish astronomer with interests in astrology and mathematics from Basra, Iraq. He studied the celestial universe and proposed his own theory of planetary and universal orbs, with special attention to the movements of the constellations of the zodiac. The present Latin translation by Gerard of Cremona was edited by Joachim Heller. The Arabic original has been lost.
