- Notes: Samuel Carr (1849-1922) was a banker who in his spare time served as organist and choir director of Boston''s Shawmut Congregational Church from 1875-1884, then moved on to Boston''s Old South Church through 1904. The weekly entries describe the music played at Sunday church services, interspersed with related newspaper clippings. Carr often adds commentary on the sermons as well as the musical programs. with--7 Carr family letters, 4 family photographs, and related papers, 1869-1928.
