Pair of photographs depicting Harry Bertoia sculptures. Silver prints, 7x6 and 7 3/4x9 1/2 inches (17.8x15.2 and 19.7x24.1 cm.), each with Matter's hand stamp and the first with notations "Bertoia Story, 8/15/52 fr. Knoll," in pencil, on verso. Circa 1952

  • Notes: Harry Bartoia (1915-1978) was a designer and sculptor best known for his Bertoia Diamond Lounge Chair, which was manufactured by Knoll. A proponent of open space and air, Bertoia pioneered the use of bent steel as a design tool and material. His artworks of the 1950s are in numerous museum collections.
