One volume bound in 3, with text volume slightly shorter. Folio, contemporary 1/2 sheep with red morocco front cover labels, spines and cover corners worn; contents variously foxed, marginal dampstaining on some plates. Paper label in each volume inscribed: "Geo. S. Bennett Jan. 1 1855 Presented by Dr. G. B. Smith, Baltimore." Paris, 1822
- Notes: first edition of "one of the finest illustrated monographs on midwifery" (Cutter & Viets).
