During the French civil wars that took place between 1648 and 1653--"The Fronde"--members of the nobility rose up against Louis XIV and his allies, with Mazarin among the allies. At the start of the Fronde, Marshal Turenne commanded troops favoring the revolt, but in 1651, he defended the King, continuing to do so successfully until the King's forces restored peace.
