- Notes: first edition. signed by mccarthy. with a letter from the publisher presenting this copy to robert penn warren. Warren''s ownership signature does not appear in the volume however. The letter was sent at the behest of the authors'' shared editor Albert Erskine and is dated January 8, a month before publication. The authors admired each other''s work and Warren provided a blurb for McCarthy''s first book, The Orchard Keeper.
