McCullough, Colleen (1937-2015)
Small Archive, circa 1975-1981.
Including: three typed letters with good content (6 pages, one page with enclosed photos, and 18 pages); one single page undated autograph letter signed; a small packet of original and photocopied correspondence between Hale and the publishers Harper & Row regarding the publication, reception, sale and marketing of The Thorn Birds dated February 24, 1977-December 28, 1976; lists of guests for McCullough promotional events in Massachusetts, also promoting Thorn Birds, including handwritten guest lists; and newspaper clippings and press releases about the events, all by way of bookseller and editor Robert D. Hale.

"I am once more a productive author. Six weeks ago Harper & Row accepted by second novel, with apparently a great deal of enthusiasm. [...] I want to be the sort of old horror whom everyone on spying shoos all the children out of the way. Whom? Who. Well. I shall advise all the young girls to gallop through oodles of love affairs and never, never, never get married. Enough to make me persona non grata in any self-respecting household. Wait for my memoirs!"
