  • Notes: first american edition, intended for Union surgeons; second issue, with title dated 1863 instead of 1862. Longmore''s manual first appeared in Volume 2 of Holmes and Hulke''s System of Surgery (London, 1861). A condensed version was incorporated in the 1863 Manual of Military Surgeons published in Richmond for Confederate use. Rutkow I, GS56.1 note.
