METZGER. 1922.

50 1/4x35 1/2 inches. Sauberlin & Pfeiffer, Vevey.
Condition B: restored losses in margins and corners, some affecting image; repaired tears and wrinkles in image; some text colored over.
A magnificent aesthetic image depicting the torso of an elegantly dressed man. The depiction is made more striking by using a dark background from which the man seems to radiate. His yellow gloves and red bow tie prominently stand out against his immaculate cream-colored shirt. Advertising a cleaner for men's clothes, this is the second of two variants of the first printing of this poster. The other was for the J.G. Weith shirt company. More than 30 years later the Durable shirt company, re-issued the image with their name on it, and also used it to announce their 50th anniversary! On all the variants, the text is grouped together at the bottom of the image.
