(MEXICO--PUEBLA.) Pantaleon Alvares de Abreu, Domingo. Decree regulating the sale of pulque. Letterpress broadside, 12 x 8 1/2 inches, with blanks uncompleted, signed by a secretary; worming, otherwise minimal wear. Puebla, circa 1750s

  • Notes: An effort to regulate commerce in pulque, the traditional alcoholic beverage made from agave sap, particularly as conducted by non-Indians. The decree is undated, but dates from Pantaleon's term as bishop from 1743 to 1763. Not found in Palau, Medina's Puebla, OCLC, or at auction.
