Album of Mexican views by Briquet and snapshots of street scenes.

Mexico, 1890 and undated
79 albumen photographs of Mexico and Mexico City laid down on 19 disbound 9 x 10½-inch leaves; album leaves brittle and chipped, with mostly minimal wear to the actual photographs.

  • Notes: 17 of these images are albumen photographs from Pellandini's "Vistas, Mexicanas" series, with 12 of those signed in the negative by the well-known Mexican photographer Abel Briquet. Briquet was born in France and became one of Mexico's first well-known commercial photographers. They include the cathedral and national palace in Mexico City, the tomb of Juarez, Chapultepec Castle, and more.

Also included, mostly on the verso of the Briquets, are 52 snapshot views of Mexico, most of them depicting street vendors and rural architecture and captioned in ink, some dated 1890; and 10 photographs of bullfighting prints.
