  • Notes: Letter Signed as "Yo el Rey" (possibly secretarial). It begins "Porquanto he sido ynformado que hordinariamente mueren todos los Indios sin hacer testamento"--or, "I have been informed that ordinarily the Indians die without leaving a will." The bishop at that time was Francisco de Rivera y Pareja.
